Tuchel and Allegri contacted as five-men Lampard replacement shortlist drawn up
GOOD MORNING CHELSEA FANS
Chelsea have a five-name shortlist to succeed Frank Lampard as they rev up for Saturday’s derby with Fulham ten points off the Premier League pace.
That’s the claim from Bild, who say Blues’ owner Roman Abramovich is eyeing Thomas Tuchel, Max Allegri, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, Southampton chief Ralph Hasenhuttl and RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann.
The German outlet even claim Abramovich has already contacted the representatives of ex-PSG chief Tuchel and former Juventus boss Allegri.
Lampard is under pressure as Chelsea have slipped to ninth after just four points from their past six games.
Meanwhile, Declan Rice has been tipped to join the Blues this summer.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes West Ham’s versatile England star Rice will be content to wait another transfer window to move on – with Stamford Bridge his top choice.
But at least Reece James is tipped to return for Chelsea this weekend after three games out injured – and now armed with a glowing tribute.
Ex-England star Glen Johnson, who played in the same position, rates James as ‘probably the best overall right-back’ in the Prem.
Johnson told Optus Sport: “I like him a lot. I think Trent (Alexander-Arnold) is better going forwards and I think (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka is a better defender, but as a whole Reece James is up there.”
Finally, Chelsea would reportedly prefer Newcastle target Fikayo Tomori to move abroad if he exits on loan this month.
