Ian Wright believes that Manchester United are starting to turn a corner, and could be on the road back to success.
Pointing towards the club’s top players in attack, he says they are nearly at the point of challenging Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League if they can make some key signings.
‘Everybody’s excited about Bruno Fernandes and [Paul] Pogba, [Anthony] Martial and [Marcus] Rashford, both of them 19 goals each,’ said Wright on BBC One after United’s extra-time FA Cup win over Norwich.

United are now undefeated in 14 games, but are suffering from a poor start to the season
‘The last time Man United players got that it was Chicharito [Javier Hernandez] and [Dimitar] Berbatov. It seems like it’s starting to happen.’
Manchester United last won the Premier League in the 2012-13 season, but have only managed two top four finishes since then.
That run looks set to continue after a poor start to this season, however United have improved, particularly since the signing of Fernandes, and are now undefeated in 14 games.
People are excited about the prospect of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba playing together
Wright’s fellow pundit Alan Shearer believes the club still needs to make ‘three or four’ more signings in order to challenge at the top.
Borussia Dortmund’s young star Jadon Sancho is a player who has been linked to a number of Europe’s top clubs as someone who can lift a team.
‘That’s the kind of signing they’re going to have to make if they want to be challenging City and Liverpool the way they’re going,’ said Wright.
Fernandes has been a catalyst for improvement at Manchester United since his arrival
Dortmund have slapped a £100million price tag on the Englishman, who has 17 goals and 17 assists in the Bundesliga this season.
It was thought that United would have to cut back on big money signings due to the coronavirus crisis, but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to rule out a move for Sancho.
They will likely be up against Real Madrid for his signature, after Jurgen Klopp firmly removed Liverpool from the race for the star.
